The Worship
Center
The North 24th Street Church of God was officially established in October 1923. Initial services were held at 3007 Ohio Street, the home of Emma Whiteside, the church's founder. In August 1924, Rev. S.S. Spaght answered God's call to be the first pastor of the church, including Sis Whiteside, and the small congregation of three (Sis. Dana Williams Scott, Davella Clark, Sis Lewis) and their families.
Ten pastors have served our church: Rev.
S.S. Spaght, August 1924 – 1950 From 1987 to June 1989 the church as without a pastor. The church continued under the spiritual leadership of Deacon Cornelius Jackson and a dedicated staff of ministers. In June 1989, Rev. Stan Rone accepted the call to pastor.
In 2001 the church completed Phase 1 of construction of the new Worship Center on the south portion of the property. The 6600 square foot building is a combined worship and fellowship hall with a seating capacity of 300, classrooms, administrative offices, a conference room, a nursery, and a complete kitchen facility. We are affiliated with the Church of God that has its general Agencies for Ministry, Publications, University and Seminary in Anderson, Indiana. We also support the National Association of the Church of God, West Middlesex, PA; the Interstate Association of the Church of God – Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, and the Nebraska Churches of God. The Church of God fellowship thinks of themselves as a movement within the mainstream of Christendom, endeavoring to restore fellowship among all Christians. The movement works increasingly to be a redemptive power in reconciling men to God.
It is our desire and prayer that you will "Rise up and Build" with us. |
